Encyclopedia

In the search process, you will notice that after you choose a topic, you really need to search for very basic information.  Many times, students will use their textbooks as a first resource, but another general resource that one can use before they focus their queries would be an Encyclopedia.  Wikipedia is an example of an online encyclopedia that can be a good "first resource", the problem with using Wikipedia is that it is an interactive encylopedia where anybody can edit the information on the pages, this makes it less reliable.  The information obtained from such a resource needs to be examined next to additional resources and correlated before it can be used for a project.  The Think Tank has purchased Grolier Online Encyclopedia (below) to aid in the first stages of the research process.  It can be used as reliable first source.
